About LenderPay

LenderPay is the trusted financial technology partner for hundreds of banks and credit unions nationwide handling billions in annual dollar volume. Our secure payment processing platform enables financial institutions to offer modern digital payment experiences while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Job Description

This pivotal role sits at the intersection of fintech innovation and enterprise banking infrastructure, directly impacting our clients' ability to serve their customers. As the Fintech Integrations Engineer, you'll be the ultimate technical authority when standard solutions fall short, leading the implementation and support of critical integrations with financial institution core systems. You'll ensure our platform maintains near 100% uptime standard while navigating the complex regulatory landscape of financial transactions.

Beyond technical troubleshooting, you'll cultivate and strengthen relationships with our most valuable enterprise clients, becoming their trusted technical partner. This position requires a rare combination of deep technical expertise, financial domain knowledge, and exceptional communication skills.

What You'll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)

  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex integration issues involving APIs, XML, NACHA files, and data synchronization across disparate systems when standard approaches have failed.
  • Serve as final escalation point for unresolved technical issues passed from Tier I and Tier II support, often under time-critical conditions with significant business impact.
  • Design, implement, and configure robust integrations with financial institution core systems that handle millions of transactions monthly without error.
  • Act as technical liaison for strategic financial institution partnerships, providing consultative expertise on API capabilities, integration architecture, and implementation approaches that maintain compliance while meeting business objectives.
  • Provide white-glove onboarding support for new enterprise partners, ensuring seamless technical integration that establishes a foundation for long-term partnership success.
  • Architect and manage secure peer-to-peer VPN tunnels and network routing rules that satisfy the stringent security requirements of financial institutions while enabling reliable connectivity.
  • Oversee critical inbound and outbound SFTP-based file transfers that facilitate daily ACH processing and settlement functions.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex payment reconciliation discrepancies and data mismatches that could impact settlement accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external payment processors including TSYS, Global Payments, and First Data to address integration challenges, settlement issues, and processing anomalies.
  • Architect and implement client-specific fee structures in coordination with payment processor platforms, ensuring accurate revenue attribution and compliance with agreements.
  • Maintain unwavering compliance with SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and NACHA standards for payment processing and data exchange, ensuring our platform exceeds industry security benchmarks.
  • Serve as the primary technical relationship owner for our most strategic enterprise clients and partners, building trust through proactive communication and swift issue resolution.
  • Leverage comprehensive knowledge of banking and credit union terminology, workflows, and procedures to translate between technical concepts and business impacts when communicating with stakeholders.
  • Contribute strategic insights to product roadmap discussions based on client feedback and market trends, helping shape the future of LenderPay's integration capabilities.
  • Configure and troubleshoot merchant account setups for specialized business types, with particular focus on optimizing fee structures for financial institutions (MCC 6012) and real estate management companies (MCC 6513).
  • Advise clients on card brand convenience fee compliance and regulations, ensuring their implementation strategies maintain adherence to Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover network rules.

What We're Looking For (Minimum qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services payment processing, with demonstrated expertise in NACHA rules, SOC 2 requirements, PCI-DSS compliance, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record troubleshooting complex SaaS API and XML-based system integrations in high-volume, high-reliability environments where downtime is not an option.
  • Extensive experience supporting enterprise clients through API onboarding, technical walkthroughs, and implementation processes that result in successful, long-term integrations.
  • Advanced knowledge of secure network configurations, including VPN tunnel setup, network routing, and SFTP file transfer protocols specifically for financial data exchange.
  • Exceptional account management and client relationship skills, with the ability to establish credibility with technical and business stakeholders at financial institutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking and credit union operations, terminology, and processes, including the nuances of accounts, loans, shares, and settlement procedures.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating with external payment processors to diagnose and resolve complex integration challenges and fee structure implementations.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a methodical, detail-oriented approach to complex technical investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Advanced experience analyzing REST APIs, SAML integrations, and troubleshooting web service integrations in payment processing environments.
  • Deep understanding of card interchange fee structures, particularly for specialized merchant categories such as financial institutions (MCC 6012) and real estate management companies (MCC 6513), with ability to optimize fee structures based on transaction types and volumes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. payment networks and funds flow mechanics, including settlement timing, availability schedules, and routing requirements across ACH, wire, RTP, and card networks.
  • Experience with merchant processing configurations, including terminal setup, payment gateway integrations, tokenization services, and fraud prevention measures for specialized business types.
  • Thorough knowledge of card brand (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) convenience fee rules, surcharge regulations, and compliance requirements, including jurisdictional variations and implementation guidelines for financial institutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of ACH Rules, including Same Day ACH requirements, return code handling, exception processing, and the implementation of risk management frameworks for ACH origination and receipt
