Description

Responsible for delivering and retrieving equipment between the Patient Equipment Pool and designated patient areas. Cleans and decontaminates equipment in accordance with Mount Sinai Infection Control policies. Performs related record keeping functions as required.

Responsibilities

  1. Retrieve equipment from soiled utility rooms, patient rooms, and associated care areas. Equipment list includes: infusion pumps, pain control pumps, sequential compression devices (Flowtron), enteral feeding pumps, refrigerators, patient tags, and other ancillary equipment as needed.

  2. Clean and decontaminate equipment and patient tags for recirculation into patient care areas.

  3. Retrieve, restock, and deliver Team 7000 carts and intubation boxes. This includes carts and intubation boxes that have been opened, or that have expired medications and or supplies.

  4. Deliver and retrieve bronchoscopes towers and associated equipment. This includes delivery and retrieval of scopes to and from Sterile Processing Department.

  5. Fulfill equipment orders received through EPIC and via phone. Ensure all documents are filled out completely.

  6. Deliver equipment requiring service/maintenance to Clinical Engineering, and retrieve equipment when services are complete.

  7. Conduct daily inventory of equipment and maintain minimum levels to assure availability for patient care needs.

  8. Enter computer orders for new rental of beds and discharges.

  9. Performs equipment cleaning, testing, and storing of all equipment returned to PEP before they are reissued to patients.

  10. Demonstrate ability to set priorities, problem-solve, and use sound good judgment in challenging situations, and be flexible.

  11. Maintains a safe, clean, functional environment, which includes keeping equipment and supplies in a neat orderly fashion.

  12. Conduct weekly inventory of supplies and ensure correct levels are maintained to complete restocking of Team 7000 carts and intubation boxes

  13. Must take all supplies out of boxes and placed in the appropriate location.

  14. Greets visitors, and answers telephone promptly and courteously. Provides information when appropriate.

  15. Carry pager and/or Vocera pendant and respond to requests in a prompt and courteous manner.

  16. Exhibit interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with coworkers and other members of the health care team.

  17. Retrieve bins used for reprocessing of disposable accessories.

  18. Conduct refrigerator rounds and document temperature logs as required.

  19. Document temperature readings of refrigerators used to store blood products in Blood Bank

  20. Perform other job related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Prefer 2 years working in a hospital environment

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $ $ Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
