Shop Crane Technician

This position will be located at the Billings, Montana branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.
*Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects.
- Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes and other types of construction equipment; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
- Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
- Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician required or a two year technical diploma from an accredited vocational school.
- Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred or other major brands of mobile cranes and/or construction equipment.
- Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
