Overview

We are seeking friendly and motivated individuals to join our team as Deli/Market Counter Help. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized deli or grocery environment. Ideal candidates will have a passion for the food industry, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Prior experience in food service or retail is preferred but not required. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in the food industry.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and standards
  • Serve customers at the deli or market counter with professionalism and courtesy
  • Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for transactions
  • Handle cash, process payments accurately, and manage cash handling responsibilities
  • Upsell products to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including food handling and sanitation protocols
  • Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure product freshness and presentation
  • Assist with bussing tables or cleaning duties as needed in café or retail environment
  • Follow food safety guidelines to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of products
  • Support team members in daily operations to ensure smooth service during busy hours

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food preparation, cashiering, or retail is a plus but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS preferred
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Basic math skills for cash handling, grocery math, and sales upselling techniques
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods
  • Experience working in quick service restaurants, fast food establishments, cafés, or grocery stores is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail
