Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse in the Surgical Center is responsible for assessing and responding to the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. This role requires strong professional judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to coordinate effective patient care.
Responsibilities- Assess and advocate for patient needs through direct interaction and observation.
- Utilize nursing skills to execute care plans and treat identified issues.
- Communicate patient assessments to necessary stakeholders to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG.
- Provide accurate transcription and timely implementation of physician orders.
- Document patient clinical records accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with surgical procedures.
- Educate patients and their families on relevant health information.
- Manage supply inventory to maintain cost-effectiveness without compromising care.
- Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean environment.
- In the PACU, assess and provide nursing care, monitor vital signs, and control pain as necessary.
- Familiar with patient transfer processes to the medical center.
- Maintain communication and assist staff as a float nurse to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned.
- Know location and management of emergency supplies and medications.
- Participate in committee meetings and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Current nursing license valid in the state of practice.
- Experience in surgical care or relevant clinical settings preferred.
