We provide an experience that allows the intern to experience life at Tesla by including them in projects that are critical to their team's success.Multiple Locations Possible: Palo Alto, CA; Fremont, CAWhat You'll DoAnalysis Engineering interns will work on projects supporting the design and production of current & future productsCore responsibilities of interns on the Analysis Engineering team are: using CAE (FEA/CFD) simulation tools to develop vehicle structure, crash safety, durability, fatigue, and battery safety performance and to develop new methods to improve these simulation toolsThe successful candidates will work with Design Engineering teams to analyze the performance of future designs and with Test Engineering teams to develop tests, correlate simulation models, and improve the predictive capability of Analysis Engineering at TeslaBuild models that are calibrated by test data, using both model frameworks already developed and new ones from academia/industryAnalyze test data and create clear data forward reportsParticipate in discussions with component designers to provide detailed feedback to guide component design, focused on thermal/hydraulic/electrical performanceWhat You'll BringCurrently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldCompletion of statics, dynamics, and materials science undergraduate coursesMust have strong problem-solving skillsInterest in analytical and numerical techniquesExperience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) & Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)Applied experience in COMSOL, ANSYS-FLUENT, STAR CCM+Applied experience in MATLAB and Simulink preferredDemonstrated experience in stand-alone or coupled analysis of electronic components for thermal, fluid mechanics, electro-magnetism, and structuralDemonstrated ability to deliver analysis on difficult projects with tight timing constraintsDemonstrated ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios with good logic and analytics and root-causing correlation problemsDemonstrated ability in iterative and collaborative automotive-similar engineering environmentsCompensation and BenefitsBenefitsAs a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for:Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
