Summary

The Manufacturing & Lab Technician will play a crucial role in the production and development of Zepto's cutting-edge diagnostic platforms. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines who are eager to apply their scientific knowledge in a manufacturing-focused role with growing laboratory responsibilities. You'll primarily work on the assembly and testing of precision diagnostic cartridges, while gaining exposure to reagent preparation, quality control, and laboratory processes. This unique hybrid role bridges Zepto's bioassay development and manufacturing operations, offering an opportunity to learn how molecular diagnostics move from the lab bench to real-world production.

Essential Duties

Laboratory & Reagent Work

  • Prepare, aliquot, and validate reagents used in diagnostic assays.
  • Support assay validation by conducting standard lab procedures and documenting data.
  • Maintain detailed electronic and written records in accordance with SOPs.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Assemble and test diagnostic cartridges using precision instruments and cleanroom processes.
  • Operate and maintain manufacturing tools and inspection equipment.
  • Assist in scaling up processes from small-batch lab builds to higher-volume production.
  • Conduct visual inspections and measurements to ensure quality standards are met.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Communicate with assay development and manufacturing engineers to align on material needs and production goals.
  • Participate in process improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support ERP-based inventory tracking and general lab organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Associate degree with relevant lab/manufacturing experience will also be considered).
  • 0–2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment (internships or coursework acceptable).
  • Familiarity with laboratory practices (pipetting, weighing, solution preparation).
  • Comfort with mechanical or precision equipment operation.
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration with engineers, scientists, chemists, and biologists.

  • Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols in a BSL-2 laboratory.

Work Environment

  • This role operates in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) lab, and strict adherence to safety protocols is required. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Job Type

  • Pay Range: $18–$20 per hour. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position; including experience, skills, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
  • Non-exempt, Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm (half-hour unpaid lunch), onsite.
  • Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including holiday time off, paid time off (PTO), sick time off, health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), health savings account (HSA), 401(k), and life insurance.
  • Some traveling may be required.

Work Environment

  • This position is based in a research and development biosafety level 2 laboratory, where strict adherence to corporate policies and regulations is required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typical for a laboratory setting.
  • There is minimal exposure to Blood-borne Pathogens.
  • Exposure to Infectious Diseases is mitigated through the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • The work environment may involve handling cleaning and sanitizing products, as well as various laboratory solutions.
