POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and managing all human resources functions for Nippon Paint Automotive Americas' Lansing, IL manufacturing facility, Hobart, IN warehouse, Canadian operations, and remote sales employees. This role partners with managers to drive performance management, employee relations, talent development, and compliance. The Human Resources Manager will also oversee day-to-day Human Resources operations, including HRIS administration, policy implementation, and workforce engagement, ensuring alignment with NPAA's values and business objectives.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manager & Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary HR partner to managers and supervisors across assigned locations.
- Build strong relationships with leaders to coach and advise on performance management, team development, and employee engagement.
- Support conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and performance improvement plans.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees by addressing questions, concerns, and feedback.
Performance & Talent Management
- Lead the performance management cycle, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and annual evaluations.
- Partner with managers to identify development needs and create growth opportunities for employees.
- Partner with the Talent Management team on recruiting, retention, training, and development initiatives.
- Support succession planning and talent review processes across multiple business units.
- Facilitate training sessions for leaders on effective people management practices.
HR Operations & Daily Duties
- Manage employee life cycle processes: onboarding, new hire orientation, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (U.S. and Canada).
- Partner with payroll and benefits team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Respond to daily HR inquiries and provide guidance to managers and employees.
HRIS & Data Management
- Administer the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and integrity of employee data.
- Generate reports and analytics to support workforce planning and business decision-making.
- Continuously improving system utilization for efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance & Policies
- Ensure compliance with all employment-related regulations in the U.S. and Canada.
- Maintain and communicate HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
Engagement & Culture
- Drive initiatives to strengthen company culture, communication, and employee recognition.
- Partner with leadership to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
- Champion NPAA's values and serve as a culture ambassador.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration; SHRM-CP and/or PHR a plus
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in Human Resources; 3-5 years of Supervisory experience
- Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Working knowledge of UltiPro (UKG) Core and Payroll or Paycom modules is a plus
- Proven knowledge of state and federal employment laws
- Assertive with good communication and organizing skills
SALARY RANGE:
$89,985.14 to $149,403.00 annually, Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience and skill set.
