Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other heavy machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles, including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Troubleshoot issues related to air brakes, hydraulics, transmissions, suspension systems, HVAC, shocks & struts, and brake systems.
- Read and interpret schematics to assist in the repair process.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and cranes safely during maintenance tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs needed.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing all tasks.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair and automotive diagnostics.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices for both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Experience in working with farm machinery or industrial equipment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical systems is a plus; soldering skills are beneficial.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as required during repair tasks.
