Department: Sales/Pawnbroker

Reports to: Store Manager

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Position summary

The Firearms Sales Associate is responsible for providing expert, knowledgeable, and responsible assistance to customers in the selection and purchase of firearms, ammunition, and accessories. This position requires a strong commitment to exceptional customer service while maintaining strict compliance with all federal, state, and local laws governing firearm sales. The ideal candidate is passionate about firearms, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a keen eye for detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Customer service: Greet and engage customers in a friendly, professional manner to identify their needs and recommend products.
  • Firearm sales: Facilitate all aspects of the firearm sales process, including completing required forms with 100% accuracy, processing transactions, and conducting background checks.
  • Product knowledge: Maintain expert knowledge of the store's inventory, including different firearm models, ammunition, and accessories, to inform and educate customers.
  • Compliance and regulations: Ensure every firearm transaction adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local laws, including ATF regulations and record-keeping requirements.
  • Inventory management: Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of merchandise displays. Participate in regular inventory counts and track incoming and outgoing firearms.
  • Safety education: Educate customers on firearm safety, responsible gun ownership, and proper handling techniques.
  • Store operations: Assist with general store duties, including maintaining a clean and well-organized workspace, cleaning of firearms, cleaning of kitchen and bathrooms, vacuuming and sweeping front area, answering phone calls, and supporting other team members.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age due to legal requirements for handling and selling firearms.
  • Previous experience in retail sales, particularly within the sporting goods or firearms industry, is preferred.
  • Exceptional knowledge of firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition is required.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local firearms laws.
  • Proficiency with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and experience with cash handling.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with customers.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders or stairs when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 36 per week
