Laboratory Management Specialist

Location: West Palm Beach, Florida

The big picture:

This position will be responsible for Laboratory Operations, Biosafety & Logistics for EXUMA's West Palm Beach Research and Process Development Laboratories.

Since 2015, the company has been developing technologies with the goal of expanding the types of cancers and the settings of care where patients can gain access to these novel therapies.

This is a full-time position located in EXUMA's West Palm Beach, FL laboratories, working with a great team and with excellent benefits.

Here are some of the responsibilities:

Laboratory Operations:

  • Ensure operational efficiency of EXUMA's laboratories, ensuring compliance with biological safety protocols and other regulations.
  • Working with IT and connectivity, manage laboratory inventory and supply chains, including procurement, storage, and organization of equipment, supplies, and reagents.
  • Coordinate the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory instruments and equipment intrgated on the ELN, sample inventory and monitoring systems for the West Palm Beach Laboratories.
  • Implement and update as required laboratory workflows, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor and manage laboratory budgets, including tracking expenses, resource allocation and efficiencies.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment by adhering to regulatory guidelines, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
  • Ensure laboratory personnel receive appropriate safety training and promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Regularly inspect and monitor laboratory facilities to identify potential hazards or maintenance issues and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals for laboratory activities.

We are looking for candidates with this background and education:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field; biopharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Proven experience (at least 3 years) working in a biological laboratory, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacity
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory guidelines and compliance standards (e.g., BSL2 biosafety, OSHA & MSDS documentation)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and allocate resources efficiently
  • Proficient in scientific data analysis software, ELN, electronic real time environmental monitoring, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and other relevant tools for inventory management
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present scientific findings
  • Ability to illustrate complex issues and to evaluate them critically as well as to navigate a goal-orientated decision process
  • Possesses planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Able to manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Has experience in multicultural environments
  • Experience working in Oncology or Immuno-oncology field – Preferred
  • Strategic thinker, self-starter, and results-oriented
