Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Accounting to lead our accounting functions with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the entire financial accounting landscape, ensuring compliance with international standards such as IAS (International Accounting Standards) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), while driving excellence in corporate, governmental, and non-profit accounting practices. Your leadership will shape the financial integrity of our organization, guiding complex financial analysis, risk management, and strategic planning initiatives. Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of accounting policies aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IAS, IFRS, and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
- Oversee the preparation and interpretation of comprehensive financial statements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage all aspects of corporate finance including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and fiscal management to support organizational growth and sustainability.
- Supervise general ledger accounting activities such as account analysis, reconciliation (including balance sheet reconciliation), and month-end close processes.
- Direct treasury management functions including cash flow analysis, investment management, accounts payable/receivable oversight, and risk assessment to safeguard assets.
- Ensure adherence to governmental accounting standards for public sector entities or non-profit organizations where applicable.
- Lead risk analysis initiatives to identify potential financial vulnerabilities; develop mitigation strategies to maintain organizational stability.
- Oversee internal controls related to compliance management, audit coordination, and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial software systems to enhance efficiency in bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial data management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic planning projects involving financial concepts such as profit & loss analysis, cost management, and revenue optimization.
- Mentor and develop finance team members to foster leadership skills in technical accounting practices including accrual accounting and technical accounting issues like ASC 606 implementation.
- Support business development efforts through detailed financial analysis and investment management insights that inform decision-making.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of IAS, IFRS, GAAP standards along with expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
- Strong background in corporate accounting practices with experience in governmental or non-profit sectors preferred.
- Proven ability in risk analysis, risk management strategies, and regulatory compliance across diverse financial environments.
- Expertise in treasury management including cash flow forecasting, investment oversight, and cost control measures.
- Exceptional strategic planning skills with a focus on financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term fiscal management.
- Advanced proficiency in financial report writing and interpretation to communicate complex data clearly to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing large teams within fast-paced finance departments.
- Skilled in financial software systems supporting general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable processing, and account analysis tools.
- Deep understanding of public accounting principles as well as technical aspects of accrual accounting and cost accounting methodologies.
- Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation tasks while maintaining high standards for accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills for balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, profit & loss evaluation, and investment assessment.
