Job Summary:

Our firm is seeking a meticulous and dependable Part-Time Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and expense reimbursements in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a professional services firm, ideally a law firm, and understands the importance of confidentiality, precision, and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, code, and enter vendor invoices in accordance with firm policies and general ledger coding
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate invoice approvals with attorneys, paralegals, and department heads
  • Process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
  • Assist with attorney and staff expense reimbursements, ensuring compliance with firm guidelines
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records and digital filing systems
  • Communicate professionally with vendors and internal staff regarding payment status and inquiries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks as needed
  • Support the finance department with ad-hoc administrative and accounting duties

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; associate's degree in accounting or business preferred
  • 1–2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with trust accounting and client-related disbursements is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with legal accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Elite, Clio, or similar) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment (in-person)
  • May require extended hours during closing or reporting periods.
