Duties
- Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), and other mechanical equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Install new HVAC equipment following design specifications and safety standards, ensuring proper integration with existing building systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R systems to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot electrical components using tools such as ohmmeters and perform wiring repairs or modifications as needed.
- Perform plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems, including pipe repairs, fittings, and drainage issues.
- Repair appliances and mechanical components associated with property maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to accurately execute installations or repairs.
- Operate welding tools for custom fabrication or repair of ductwork or metal components.
- Maintain detailed service records, reports, and logs of all work performed for accountability and future reference.
- Support emergency repairs during field service calls to minimize downtime for clients.
- Assist in the training of junior technicians or apprentices when required.
- Drive company vehicles safely to various job sites while adhering to all transportation regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC Service Technician with a strong background in construction environments or property maintenance settings.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC/R systems including refrigeration (especially ammonia refrigeration), air conditioning units, boilers, and related mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing, appliance repair, welding, and general equipment repair techniques.
- Familiarity with field service operations and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing.
- Experience working with property management teams or commercial clients is highly desirable.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL or driver certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to refrigerants (including ammonia) and electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to explain technical issues clearly.
