Position Overview

The Human Resources Director will serve as a strategic partner to Scale Marketing's leadership team, responsible for driving a high-performance culture, strengthening employee engagement, and ensuring Scale remains a best-in-class workplace. This senior leader will report monthly to company leadership on the state of culture, employee engagement (including eNPS), and workforce issues, while also overseeing day-to-day HR needs and the first-pass review of recruiting candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Reporting & Culture Stewardship

  • Provide monthly briefings to the Executive Leadership Team on culture, employee engagement, eNPS results, and key workforce trends.
  • Translate people data, survey insights, and employee sentiment into clear recommendations and action plans for leadership.
  • Serve as the organizational culture champion, ensuring diversity, inclusion, and respect are embedded in daily practices.

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner closely with executives and department heads to develop and implement long-term people and talent strategies that support organizational growth.
  • Lead initiatives across organization development, talent management, employee engagement, and employee relations.
  • Guide leaders on employment laws and compliance requirements (ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.).

People & Talent Development

  • Oversee performance management, compensation planning, and succession planning to ensure retention of top talent.
  • Manage headcount planning, salary reviews, and annual talent review processes.
  • Champion career development programs and professional training that foster employee growth and career pathing.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Act as the primary advisor and escalation point for employee relations matters, working with leaders to resolve issues effectively.
  • Build mechanisms for employees to share feedback, ensuring leadership has visibility into workforce concerns.
  • Partner with managers to proactively address retention risks and drive engagement.

Day-to-Day HR Operations

  • Oversee daily HR administration including onboarding, benefits, compliance, and policy execution.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, ensuring timely resolution and excellent employee experience.
  • Partner with external vendors and internal teams to ensure HR systems and processes run smoothly.

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition Support

  • Conduct first-pass review of recruiting candidates to ensure alignment with role requirements and culture fit before presenting to hiring managers.
  • Partner with department heads to refine job descriptions, interview processes, and selection criteria.
  • Support the recruitment pipeline by advising on sourcing strategies and candidate experience.

HR Analytics & Data-Driven Insights

  • Leverage HR analytics to provide actionable insights that guide executive decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards and reports that track workforce metrics, engagement, and talent pipeline health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity advising executives.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing strategic leadership responsibilities with hands-on HR operations and recruiting support.
  • Proven ability to influence and build trusted partnerships with senior leaders.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a pragmatic approach to HR best practices.
  • Ability to work in the Chicago office Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with flexibility as needed.

Base Pay: $90, $115,000.00 per year
