The Role

We're looking for a Backend Engineer Intern to help build and scale the systems behind our insight engine, orchestration layer, and external integrations.

You'll work within a modern microservices stack—NestJS, FastAPI, MongoDB, Docker, and AWS—and contribute to features powering real-time analytics, AI-generated summaries, and dynamic dashboards.

This is a hands-on role with direct product impact. You'll collaborate across frontend and data science to ship real features used by real customers.

What You'll Build

  • Scalable microservices using NestJS and TypeScript
  • REST APIs powering our frontend and internal AI pipelines
  • MongoDB schemas and optimized queries for low-latency workloads
  • Dockerized deployments on AWS EC2, with CI/CD automation
  • Internal tooling for data workflows and insight generation
  • Core backend improvements around observability, caching, and uptime

What You'll Tackle

  • Design and extend APIs for real-time analytics and conversational querying (REST, GROQ, GraphQL)
  • Integrate with external platforms like Google Sheets, Notion, Stripe, and CRMs via OAuth and webhooks
  • Implement multi-tenant architecture with smart caching and access control
  • Collaborate with data scientists on prompt-based querying and anomaly detection
  • Optimize pipelines for speed, scale, and resilience

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript ) and/or Python
  • Experience with API design and backend architecture for cloud-based apps
  • Familiarity with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or ORMs like Prisma
  • Understanding of Git, CI/CD workflows, and Docker deployments
  • Systems thinking with a performance-first mindset

Bonus:

  • Exposure to OpenAI, LangChain, or RAG pipelines
  • Experience with FastAPI, GROQ, or GraphQL
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airbyte, Temporal, Dagster)
  • Experience with Redis queues (BullMQ, Streams, etc.)
  • Hackathon or startup experience — a builder's mindset
