About the Team & Role

Our engineering team focuses on creating scalable and efficient backend systems that power critical business functions. We are responsible for everything from user authentication to real-time data processing, ensuring that our platform scales and functions optimally.

As a Backend Engineer, you will be an integral part of this team, working on high-impact projects that directly contribute to the success of the platform.

You will help design and implement backend solutions that power our core services, including building microservices and ensuring they run smoothly in production. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to technical decisions, and be involved in every stage of development—from ideation to deployment.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to influence the technical direction of our platform, implement best practices, and help optimize backend systems for both performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Develop: Build high-quality backend services to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and solutions.
  • Scalable Microservices: Develop and maintain scalable microservices for internal teams and end-users.
  • Code Reviews & Best Practices: Participate in design and code reviews, contributing to maintaining high standards and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Technical Leadership: Contribute to the technical direction of backend systems, ensuring they meet business goals and maintain performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience developing backend systems.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java and related backend technologies.
  • Proven experience in building RESTful microservices.
  • Familiarity with Docker for containerizing applications.
  • Familiarity with AWS DynamoDB, S3, and other AWS services.
  • Understanding of system design, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures or messaging systems like Kafka.
  • Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Boot Reactor.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Experience with Python for backend development.
  • Experience with payment systems such as PayPal and Apple Pay.

Job Type: Contract

Base Pay: $ $90.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
