Film Pre-Sales and Distribution Consultant

We are an accomplished production company whose films have been shortlisted in the Academy Awards race, led by producer and executive whose projects are currently running in major studios.
Role:
We are seeking an experienced Film Pre-Sales & Distribution Consultant to support the domestic and international commercialization of our feature film. The consultant will advise on and execute strategies for pre-sales, acquisition licensing, and distribution, including theatrical and non-theatrical release opportunities. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong relationships across sales agents, distributors, buyers, and exhibitors.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive pre-sales strategy for domestic and international markets
- Identify and engage potential buyers, sales agents, and financiers aligned with the film's genre, budget, and market positioning
- Advise on territory-by-territory sales strategies, pricing, and market readiness
- Support packaging materials for pre-sales, including pitch decks, sales estimates, cast value assessments, and market positioning
Distribution & Licensing
- Advise on acquisition and licensing opportunities across theatrical, streaming, broadcast, and ancillary platforms
- Lead or support negotiations with distributors and acquisition executives
- Evaluate and structure distribution offers, MGs, revenue splits, and term lengths
- Provide guidance on rights management, territorial carve-outs, and windowing strategies
Theatrical Release Opportunities
- Identify domestic and international theatrical release pathways, including traditional, limited, and event-based releases
- Advise on release timing, festival strategies, and platform launches
- Liaise with exhibitors, distributors, and theatrical bookers as needed
Market & Industry Advisory
- Provide market intelligence on current trends, comparable titles, and buyer appetite
- Advise on festival and film market strategies (e.g., Cannes, AFM, EFM, TIFF, Sundance)
- Support overall commercial strategy to maximize the film's financial and market potential
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in film pre-sales, sales agency representation, or distribution consulting
- Strong track record of domestic and international film sales and licensing deals
- Established relationships with distributors, buyers, and sales agents across key territories
- Deep understanding of film financing structures, pre-sales models, and distribution agreements
- Experience with both independent and studio-adjacent films preferred
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and strategic planning skills
Engagement Structure
- Consultant role (contract-based) Fully REMOTE
- Compensation structure negotiable (retainer, commission, or equity)
- Engagement may span development, production, and post-production phases
