Product Compliance Manager

The Product Compliance Manager is the subject matter expert for product compliance. "Compliance" in this context refers to entire commercialization, from raw material sourcing at supplier and sub supplier to customer home. It covers below major steps: raw material testing, product onboarding, product quality, labeling, claims, shipping, supply chain requirements and end up with customer satisfaction. This individual will work closely with the Marketing, Sales, Quality, Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain, and Shipping teams to ensure compliance during all aspects of the product life cycle (including raw materials).
Regulatory Compliance Interpret and apply customer-specific requirements and relevant state, federal, and local regulations. Fully understand product and production related, Federal law, State law and legislative and legality requirement. It includes but is not limited to below: · 16CFR1632 and 16CFR1633 · TB117 and 16CFR1640 · CPSIA · PROP65 · CARB II · CCAPSIA · CAN-CGSB 4.2 – 27.7 · CONSTAINCIA · FTC on labeling and claim requirements. · TSCA Certificate of Compliance. · Flammability and Chemical statement label · PFAS Letter of Guarantee · "Made in USA" Letter of Guarantee. · Asbestos Vendor declarations for USA - New Jersey AB legislature), P.L. 2019, C 114. · Certification of Family and Fire Fighter Protection Act 9 nNew York Senate Bill S4630B). State Regulation Compliance · PA variance approval · MRC. Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Oregon Mattress Stewardship Registration and California
Each state legislation on filled products, bedding products and seating products. Key Customer product and production requirements. Understand test protocol. · WMT test protocol per lab. · Costco test protocol per lab. · Amazon test protocol and compliance · IKEA test protocol per IKEA Spec. · KOHLs test protocol per lab. · TARGET test protocol per lab. Customer satisfaction · Understand each Customer's requirement and maintain each requirement up to date. · Convert customer requirement to internal test plan, standard and standard instruction to ensure production produce to customer expectation. · Calibrate Sinomax internal standard with customer standard and create valid control plan to meet customer requirement and provide guidelines to production. · Handling customers' complaints and claims, investigation and re-call. · Handle warranty claim. Work with 3rd party / 2nd party lab, understand test method and standard. · Regularly contact test lab, understand test method and test report. · Root cause analysis (RCA). · Be able to provide CAPA based on root cause analysis. Negotiate with customers to minimize the cost of non – conformance. · Provide product compliance guidelines with the upper stream supply chain to secure compliance from the beginning. Documentation & Reporting · Create the test plan after product kicks – off meeting. · Perform product compliance gate check during pre-production meeting. · Maintain and retain production compliance tracker: Suppler self-test, pre-production test, production test and store test. · Using ASANA to maintain test status summary. · Validate PIF (product information) with specification and tolerance. · Target 100% satisfaction score to both internal customer and external customer. Audits & Quality Assurance · Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance audits through entire supply chain. · Verify that sampling, inspections, and material transfers meet customer requirements. · Liaise with Quality, Production, and Shipping teams to address audit findings and undertake corrective actions. Cross Department Collaboration · Provide compliance guidance for entire supply chain: Collaboration global sourcing team, Product development team, Marketing team, Sales team, Quality team, Engineering team, Production team, Shipping team on daily bases. Provide confirmation to product compliance requirements. Such as confirming the law label design, confirming artwork design, initiating Prop 65 policy, and BCI policy. · As compliance officer, provide certification, COA, LoG (letter of guarantee), GCC and Self declaration to customers.
Lead PFMEA on all new products before production startup. Also based on risk assessment, create a control plan to minimize the risk in consideration with age of use, type of user, risk of deceptive claim, legal, legislation and law. · Maintain and retain the PFMEA on a yearly basis. · Review and approve on-line advertisement for all running products and newly developed products based on FTC regulation. Provide risk assessment on deceptive claim. · Interpret customer washing policy and convert to organizational care instruction to meet customer policy. · Create company stand care instruction for all customer which does not have washing policy. Other Duties · Use company document control systems proficiently. · Participate in special projects as assigned.
Required: · Minimum 5 years of product compliance experience. · Strong understanding of regulatory compliance processes. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office. · Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. · Ability to read and interpret complex product requirements.Preferred: · Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry, engineering, quality management). · Knowledge of compliance in the bedding industry. · Project management experience. · Multilingual (Mandarin a plus). · Teamwork and process approach. · Initiator, coach, supporter and leader. · Decision making.
