t to work with a small team on all public facing corporate publications, media announcements, and the corporation's website. This is a
direct hire, full time
opportunity in Evanston, Illinois.
This position is onsite Monday - Friday with core business hours of 8:30am-4:30pm.
Due to the specific legal and contractual requirements associated with this position, only US Citizens and Green Card Holders/Permanent residents will be considered for this role.
Our client is a well-respected and nationally recognized not-for-profit corporation that conducts scholarship programs. Since the corporation's establishment in 1955, more than $1.9 billion has been granted for college undergraduate scholarships for approximately 491,000 students. Headquartered on Chicago's North Shore, the corporation currently employs 35 full-time employees.
Our client is seeking a hard-working professional individual who will report directly to the Director of Public Information. As part of a very small team that handles all public facing corporate publications, media announcements, and the corporation's website, this individual will be expected to be comfortable communicating with a variety of individuals, both internally and externally, from administrators to officers. This individual will be responsible for interacting with a variety of external publics, including high school and college/university officials, students, parents, vendors, and the general news media. This individual must have an energetic personality, positive attitude, strong work ethic, solid communication skills (both oral and written), and be self-motivated, well-organized, and work well both independently and with others in teams. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of practical related work experience.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the creation, development and production of all corporate publications and promotions
- Contribute to the creative design process and graphic arts work for all corporate printed materials
- Help with the design elements and maintenance of the corporation's website
- Assist with the preparation and transmission of press releases and annual public press announcements
- Interacts (verbal and written communications) with staff, management, news media, and vendors
- Extensive use of a customized database in addition to standard and specialty (customized) PC applications
- Recommend and help implement procedural improvements/efficiencies
- General departmental administrative duties; including data input, word processing, phone calls, editing/proofing documents, etc.
- Various other duties as assigned by the department Director, officers, and upper management of the corporation
Required
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree is required – preferably a degree in English, Writing, Journalism, or Communications
- Experience in an academic or business setting desired – this is a growth-oriented position that will offer excellent long-term challenges and stability
- Must be very detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated – the ideal candidate is a strong communicative team player who has the ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must have very strong grammar skills
- Working proficiency of standard PC applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- Strong corporate and college awareness; marketing oriented
- Professional in demeanor and presentation
- Commitment to academic excellence
- High energy
- Business-like communicator familiar with structured environments and deadlines
- Ability to effectively present ideas in detail to a variety of audiences
- Strong commitment to the highest ethical business practices
Preferred
- Advanced degrees/certifications are a big plus
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style is a plus
- Familiarity with desktop publishing software (Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) is a big plus
- Some photography experience is also a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
