Little Rock, Arkansas, United States Reading Services of Arkansas Full time

Job Overview

Reading Services of Arkansas is seeking a dedicated, confident, and compassionate Administrative Assistant who values literacy and its impact on individual lives and community growth. The ideal candidate is an organizational process expert — someone who brings both structure and intuition to their work. You find satisfaction in designing smooth, reliable systems that ensure no detail is lost, no family is forgotten, and every partnership is honored with timely follow-through.

We're looking for a self-assured yet empathetic professional who thrives on organization, communication, and continuous improvement. This person will support the Executive Director and the organization's daily operations by managing communication with families and community partners, coordinating services and events, handling invoicing and light bookkeeping, and contributing to social media content creation.

Approximately 75% of work will be completed Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–2:30 PM, with flexibility for remaining hours.

The ideal candidate is objective and open-minded, able to recognize the strengths and limitations of different educational approaches while respecting the choices of all families. We value team members who bring a passion for processes, enjoy refining workflows, and thrive in community-based environments where shared ownership and strong communication are key to expanding literacy access across Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director in day-to-day operations and multiple strategic initiatives.
  • Design and maintain efficient administrative systems that ensure follow-through and consistency across all communications and commitments.
  • Manage communication with families and community partners with professionalism and warmth.
  • Coordinate services, events, and programs across multiple locations.
  • Handle invoicing, light bookkeeping, and related administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and team members to create engaging social media content that reflects our mission and values.
  • Maintain organized materials, files, and office systems to support seamless workflow.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven, community-focused team culture.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a passion for refining processes and systems.
  • Intuitive talent for identifying gaps and creating solutions to strengthen organizational flow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-assured, professional, and able to work independently while maintaining a team mindset.
  • Compassionate and empathetic in interactions with families, partners, and colleagues.
  • Objective and open-minded, recognizing the strengths and limitations of various educational approaches.
  • Experience with process management, workflow improvement, or system design.
  • Experience with social media content creation and online community engagement preferred.
  • Experience in office administration, scheduling, or bookkeeping preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a mission-driven, community-based environment.
