Position Overview

Shoreline Christian School is seeking a part-time Elementary School Counselor to provide social and emotional support for students in K–5th grade during a maternity leave. This is a unique opportunity to walk alongside students in a Christ-centered community, helping them discover their God-given gifts and abilities while fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct counseling support to students individually and in small groups to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Implement short-term crisis intervention plans as needed.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators; refer students to outside services when appropriate.
  • Support teachers in identifying student needs and developing effective intervention strategies.
  • Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with families regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Support teacher implementation of the Character Strong curriculum in classrooms on a weekly basis.
  • Supervise students during scheduled recess duty.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a counseling role strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
  • Commitment to Christian education and supporting students in their faith and personal growth.
