Position Summary:

The Lead Teacher for the Kindergarten/1st Grade group will design and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that support academic growth, creativity, and social development. This role includes leading classroom activities, supervising students, and mentoring assistant teachers to ensure a positive, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead daily afterschool activities including art, science, reading, and outdoor play.
  • Create a warm, engaging, and safe classroom environment for students ages 5–7.
  • Support students' social and emotional growth through positive guidance and modeling.
  • Collaborate with assistant teachers and program staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about student progress and behavior.
  • Maintain attendance, safety, and incident records as required by program guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with state childcare licensing and health/safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 1–2 years working with children ages 5–7 in a school or childcare setting.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Passion for creating a nurturing, fun, and educational afterschool environment.

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately [2:00 PM – 6:00 PM] (school days).
  • Pay Rate: $20–$28/hour (based on experience and qualifications).
