We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about student success and thrives in a dynamic, student-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have strong editing and writing skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and experience in program coordination as well as familiarity with social media content creation and a proactive, self-directed approach to learning. Experience in higher education is preferred.

Location: This position is located on-site in College Station, TX.
Salary: $45,000/annually (Based on selected hire's qualifications)

Essential Duties/Tasks
Program Coordination and Outreach
Coordinates all aspects of the National Fellowships Program, including outreach (in person and through social media), recruitment, and selection processes for internal and external awards. Coordinates campus nomination processes for major awards (Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill, Truman, Goldwater, Boren, Fulbright, Gaither, Udall, McCall MacBain, and Astronaut), as well as related internal awards, such as Deans' Excellence Awards, and Outstanding Senior Awards. Supports program assessment and evaluation and maintains program databases. Coordinates logistics and travel for seminars, workshops, orientations, and other events. Purchases program materials and prepares reports for students, faculty, and university leadership. Researches and recommends improvements to support student success and program visibility.
Administrative Support
Serves as the first point of contact for program information and coordinates responses to inquiries. Supports maintenance of office databases. Tracks and monitors the program budget. Coordinates committee meetings and prepares materials and correspondence.
Student Advising
Maintains regular office hours to advise students on fellowship opportunities, application strategies, and essay development. Supports students through all stages of the application process.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience in program coordination, event coordination, or closely related experience to include demonstrated experience in reviewing academic or professional essays and providing constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with students in higher-education or student support setting (academic advising, tutoring, writing center, student success, honors, or related areas): coordinating outreach efforts, including through social media; and organizing outreach events and managing program logistics.
- Experience that shows strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- More than one year of experience in higher education program administration.
- Experience working with high-achieving students and with underserved student populations, including student veterans.
- Experience in academic advising, writing instruction, fellowships advising, student success, or scholarship programs.
- Familiarity with national or internationally competitive fellowships (e.g., Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, Fulbright).
- Ability to be flexible and exercise initiative in a dynamic environment.
- Experience managing selection processes, coordinating reviewers, or supporting committees.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, especially regarding student deadlines, emergencies, and confidential matters.
- Familiarity with the structure, purpose, and expectations of competitive national fellowships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking, initiative, and self-directed learning abilities.
- Demonstrated skill in coaching students to strengthen essays, résumés, and application materials . Excellent writing, editing, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets (Excel), and database programs.
- Ability to organize, plan, solve problems, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff across the university.
- Ability to work effectively in a student-facing, in-person environment .
- Experience designing engaging social media content, flyers, and handouts.
