Description of Duties*

Tax Advisory & Planning

  • Partner with CEO to provide strategic tax planning for individuals, families, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses.
  • Conduct detailed tax projections, scenario modeling, and year-round proactive planning.
  • Advise on entity structure, compensation strategies, retirement plan optimization, charitable giving strategies (including DAFs, CLAT/CRTs), and major liquidity events.
  • Partner with CEO and financial advisor in client meetings to present integrated tax strategies.

Tax Preparation & Filing

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for: Individuals (1040), S-Corporations and C-Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts & Estates, Gift tax returns
  • Ensure all filings meet federal and state compliance requirements and deadlines.
  • Oversee secure e-filing processes and follow-up on acknowledgments.
  • Maintain accurate tax workpapers, documentation, and internal tracking systems.

Client Consultation & Support

  • Provide year-round support for client tax questions, notices, and IRS/state correspondence.
  • Assist in onboarding new tax clients, gathering necessary documentation, and establishing filing expectations.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors to integrate tax strategies into comprehensive financial plans.
  • Help clients understand the tax impact of transactions, life changes, and business decisions.

Internal Collaboration & Workflow Management

  • Work closely with the Strategic CFO and bookkeeping teams on tax-related matters for business-owner clients.
  • Coordinate with the COO on processes, workflow, and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date digital files, tax planning modules, and client documents in systems such as Salesforce, QuickBooks, and internal storage.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to expand SWP's Tax Advisory Services offering.
  • Contribute to internal updates, training, and best-practice development.

Summary of Qualifications

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–7+ years of experience in tax advisory, public accounting, or a multi-family office tax team.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge across individual, entity, and trust/estate tax regimes.
  • Proficiency with professional tax software (e.g., ProConnect, UltraTax, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, associates, vendors, etc.
