Wilmington Outdoor Adventures offers guided kayak tours, summer camps, kayaking workshops, retreats and special events and around Wilmington, NC. We provide unique experiences such as full moon tours, women's empowerment retreats, and kayaking workshops, fostering a love for the outdoors and community connection.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Adventure Program Coordinator to lead our summer activities and ensure a safe and unforgettable experience.
Position Overview
The Lead Adventure Program Coordinator will oversee the coordination and execution of our summer camps and adventure programs. This role involves providing environmental education, ensuring safety protocols, and being on the ground during all summer programs. The ideal candidate has a passion for outdoor education, leadership experience, and a love for kids.
Key Responsibilities
- Summer Camp Lead: Lead the daily operations of Coastal Kids Camp, Kayak & Surf Camp, and Seaside Squirts. Oversee at least one summer intern while working together and with WOA guides as needed.
- Safety Management: Enforce safety standards and guidelines during all activities. Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and facilities, including kayaks, safety gear, and storage areas.
- Reporting and Feedback: Provide regular updates to the business owner on program performance, customer feedback, and progress. Suggest improvements and new program ideas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Outdoor Education, a biological science, Business Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in outdoor adventure programming, event management, or a similar leadership role.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams, particularly in outdoor or adventure settings.
- Knowledge of kayaking, outdoor safety, and first aid (CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification preferred).
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Physically fit and able to handle the demands of outdoor activities, including kayaking and lifting equipment.
