About the position...

The Building Construction Intern will be responsible for collaborating with the construction field staff and performing manual labor for residential and commercial projects within the company's Construction Division. This individual will be asked to travel to the company's ongoing project sites in the Greater Harrisburg area where work is being performed.

  • Assisting with the installation of doors, cabinets, windows, decks, railings, and hardware/fixtures.
  • Painting and spackling of walls and ceilings.
  • Assist with exterior installations as needed, such as siding, roofing, etc.
  • Expand knowledge on ADA compliant units and installation.
  • Assist in touching-up renovated or new construction units.
  • Shadow with Carpenters, Foremen, and Superintendents to properly read and understand drawings/blueprints/layout work.
  • Shadow and assist Foreman and Carpenters to learn the process of successfully punching out jobs.
  • Clean-up and housekeeping associated with job sites and units.
  • Assist with Property Management or Refresh related projects when workload allows/required.
  • Responsible for inventory control, including but limited to hand tools and power tools on site.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining site storage trailers and equipment.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment at all TCC offices and sites.
  • Attend field related meetings/trainings and collaborate with field team members to assist in Toolbox Talks.

What we are looking for from you...

  • Must have a valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
  • Must live local and commutable driving distance to the Greater Harrisburg area to work at assigned job sites
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Carpentry, or related field
  • Previous experience in hands on construction work is preferred
  • Must be able to provide basic hand tools - a list will be provided before time of hire
  • Must be able to complete construction work, including but not limited to: digging, lifting, climbing ladders, and entering trench excavations
  • Acts as a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and follow up skills
  • OSHA Certification is highly preferred but not required
