This posting will be used to fill position vacancies in Career Service.

What you will do:

In this role you will provide clerical support for a multi-function Child & Family Well-Being Unit performing a variety of duties.

How you will make an impact:

  • Meets the public as receptionist, in person and on the phone.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Department of Children and Families and community resources to route clients appropriately, answer questions or concerns.
  • Prepare intake case records for Child Protective Investigators for cases received over the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Type all correspondence, memorandums, reports, records, and other related work such as court reports, petitions, and court orders.
  • Compile routine case correspondence as required and assist in tracking required documents for timely submission.
  • Responsible for preparing mileage vouchers for Child & Family Well-Being staff.
  • Monitor supplies and maintain advanced ordering to ensure a constant supply of forms, documents, materials, and supplies.
  • Maintain the filing system and new case records for the Unit.
  • Responsible for date stamping and timely distribution of incoming mail.

Qualifications:

  • Three years of administrative or clerical work experience. College or vocational school can substitute for the required experience.
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • Vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.

Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication. Knowledge of the methods of data collection. Knowledge of basic arithmetic. Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations. Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others.
