Position Overview

The Operations and Program Manager oversees the daily operations of Hope for Flowers and its Artisan Studio, partners with the Founder to direct business strategy, and provides management guidance to team members and external contractors. Overseeing the administrative side of B2B and DTC sales, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring wholesale operations are efficient and accurate. Partnering with the Director of Artisan Studio, this position will support our Arts Enrichment programming by securing funding opportunities, crafting grant applications, and managing program data. This position is cross-functional. Job Duties and Responsibilities

Wholesale and Business Operations - 70%

  • Oversee and execute wholesale operations, including writing POs, invoicing accounts, collecting payments, managing shipping, and running final sales reports using current operating systems working with our contracted sales teams.
  • Manage and update Brandboom and Shopify platforms with products, orders, and inventory working with design and marketing teams to prepare for wholesale and retail sales seasons.
  • Manage the day to day operations of our Midtown office, including auditing payroll for hourly employees, tracking and ordering supplies, assisting with interviews and onboarding,
  • Build, run, and deliver various sales and performance reports using Brandboom, Shopify, and Google Sheets to inform strategy, create POs, and partner with our sales teams to efficiently manage sales for each season.
  • Collaborate with the founder, team members, and external contractors to manage or support special projects related to wholesale, retail, or design business areas.
  • Maintain and add to the standard operating procedures and templates library, and proactively recommend, test, and implement new efficiencies across wholesale, retail, and design business areas.
  • Manage admin-level permissions in Google Suite, Shopify, Brandboom, and other platforms, and provide basic technical support to team members for these applications.

Artisan Studio Operations - 30%

  • Working with the Director of the Artisan Studio, organize and maintain sensitive program data, monitor program quality, and provide guidance and support for public programming efforts.
  • Working with the Apprenticeship Program Manager, maintain reporting and program data for our Department of Labor approved Expert Sewer Apprenticeship Program, meeting regularly with the journeyworker to track apprentice progress.
  • Monitor grant opportunities, research and write grant applications, create program budgets, and submit grant reports with support from the Founder, Director of the Artisan Studio, and accountant to secure funding for the Artisan Studio Art Enrichment Program and Apprenticeship Program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related field. 2-4 years of relevant, full-time work experience may be substituted for the right candidate.
  • 3 or more years of operations management experience, small business and creative industries preferred
  • 3 or more years of full-time, in-person office experience, small business and creative industries preferred
  • Proven project management and data management experience; experience with Shopify, Brandboom, CRM, or related platform administration preferred.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Google Suite tools, including advanced proficiency with Excel/Sheets software.
  • Authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience or interest in sustainable business practices, creative industries, and social-impact businesses.
  • Experience or interest in non-profit community programming and workforce development programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Able to work well and collaborate effectively with a wide range of audiences including staff, volunteers, program partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong decision making skills; the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
  • Strong project management and independent organizational skills with the ability to move forward the goals of both the business and the Artisan Studio.
  • Values-and mission driven, consistently displaying leadership, integrity, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented outlook on work. Develops people, builds teams, and deals effectively with demanding situations.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Onsite in Midtown, Detroit
  • In-person only; not eligible for remote work
  • Occasionally must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Monday through Friday, plus occasional special events on evenings or weekends
