The Opportunity
The Director, Advanced Practice Nursing provides leadership, structure, and vision for Lavender's team of psychiatric nurse practitioners. This role is responsible for shaping the practice environment, setting clinical standards, and ensuring compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations. The Director serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and strategic partner, fostering professional growth, consistency in care delivery, and a culture of collaboration across the organization.
Working closely with the Director of Nursing Operations, the Director, Advanced Practice Nursing ensures that Lavender's nurse practitioners are empowered to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate mental health care at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
Clinical Leadership & Practice Oversight- Establish, update, and maintain clinical practice standards and policies to ensure safe, high-quality client care
- Oversee advanced practice compliance, including licensing, credentialing, and DEA requirements across multiple states
- Partner with Nursing Operations leadership to align clinical standards with operational goals
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical quality initiatives and practice improvement strategies
- Lead the physician collaboration program to ensure market compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Serve as a role model and subject matter expert in psychiatric advanced practice
- Lead mentorship and coaching initiatives for nurse practitioners and NP managers
- Oversee onboarding and ongoing training programs to ensure consistent practice and professional growth
- Direct the NP mentorship and residency programs, ensuring standardized approaches and strong clinical foundations
- Cultivate a learning culture focused on excellence, innovation, and career development
- Collaborate with nursing and operations leaders to promote clinical excellence and accountability
- Lead communication initiatives for NPs, including newsletters, town halls, and feedback forums
- Support Lavender's ANCC accreditation and continuing education programs
- Represent Lavender externally through partnerships with academic, regulatory, and professional organizations
- Support data-driven decision making by identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
What You Bring
- Master's degree in Nursing (DNP preferred) and board certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- 3–5 years of experience in advanced psychiatric nursing practice
- 1–2 years of leadership experience overseeing advanced practice providers
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop nurse practitioners
- Proven track record in developing and implementing clinical practice standards and quality improvement initiatives
- Experience managing credentialing, licensing, and payer enrollment processes
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health regulations, telehealth standards, and DEA requirements
- Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, make data-informed decisions, and balance regulatory detail with operational priorities
