Overview

McHugh Mobile Wound Care in affiliation with Wound Kinetics is a physician/provider led mobile wound care organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate wound management services across the continuum of care. We partner with skilled nursing facilities, long-term care centers, assisted living facilities, home health agencies, and outpatient offices to deliver evidence-based, bedside wound care that promotes healing and reduces hospital sent readmissions.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant plays a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic wounds under the supervision of the Medical Director and in collaboration with interdisciplinary facility staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluation of wound etiology, size, depth, drainage, infection risk, and tissue viability.

 Develop and implement individualized wound treatment plans, including dressings selection, debridement, and advanced wound modalities.

 Provide weekly follow-up evaluations and adjust treatment plans based on wound progress and clinical findings.

 Collaborate with the Medical Director, physicians, nursing staff, and facility teams to ensure continuity of care and adherence to established protocols.

 Document all patient encounters in compliance with clinical, regulatory, and billing standards, utilizing the Wound Kinetics EMR system or client-approved platform.

 Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and monthly operations reviews with facility leadership.

 Educate nursing staff on wound prevention, treatment principles, and proper dressing application.

 Communicate with family members and caregivers regarding patient progress and treatment plans as appropriate.

 Support wound-related infection control initiatives and hospital readmission reduction efforts.

 Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and payer documentation requirements, including CMS guidelines.

 Provide remote consultation support when needed for urgent wound concerns.

Additional Duties (Typical in Mobile Wound Care Services)

 Travel between multiple facilities within a designated geographic region.

 Maintain and manage wound care supplies, ensuring appropriate usage and documentation.

 Perform minor in-office or facility-based procedures (e.g., conservative debridement, application of skin substitutes, compression therapy).

 Utilize telehealth technology when required for physician supervision or case consultation.

 Adhere to infection control and safety standards for in-facility and mobile practice environments.

 Participate in periodic quality assurance reviews and continuing education on wound care innovations.

Qualifications:

 Education: Master's degree in nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies (PA).

 Licensure: Active, unrestricted Florida state license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

 Certification: Board Certified (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA); Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, CWS, or equivalent) preferred but not required.

 Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in wound care, dermatology, podiatry, surgery, or long-term care preferred.

 Skills:

o Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic acumen.

o Excellent interpersonal communication with patients, staff, and facility leadership.

o Ability to work independently in diverse care environments.

o Proficient EMR documentation and understanding of billing compliance.
