The Pet Cancer Foundation's vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest the number of dogs and cats developing cancer every year is 12 million; roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.
As the organization continues to work towards the accomplishment of our mission, the PCF team includes professionals contributing virtually across Canada, the United States, and several other countries worldwide. As we grow and require recruitment solutions to support our many efforts, we're in need of an experienced Director of Recruitment to join our team. That's where and how you can help us.
About the Position - Director of Recruitment, VOLUNTEER
The Director of Recruitment will oversee and manage the Recruitment team as they work to attract and select the best possible candidates for various positions across the organization. The position provides advice and coaches managers through the recruitment process and develops processes and working tools to guide the work of the Recruitment team. The Director of Recruitment is integral to the development and implementation of the organization's recruitment program, ensuring it is aligned with industry best practices and appropriate legislation and takes the lead on building a strong volunteer brand that will attract and retain highly qualified applicants to Pet Cancer Foundation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Recruitment Specialists in the delivery of recruitment and selection services to the organization and in the provision of talent acquisition advice and expertise. Coach and develop the team to ensure all candidates have a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
- Consult with various managers across the organization to proactively understand their recruitment and retention challenges, to develop mitigation strategies and recommendations and to provide coaching/training on recruitment best practices.
- Lead recruitment processes, which includes: screening candidates, conducting telephone screening interviews and sending a vetted short-list of qualified candidates to hiring managers to support the recruitment of qualified volunteers that will be a good fit for the organization.
- Establish and implement Recruitment processes, procedures and tools, such as interview guides, to help the team work as consistently as possible and to assist in the training and onboarding of new team members.
- Act as a key contributor to the development and implementation of the organization's Recruitment strategy; research and implement talent sourcing strategies and coordinate recruitment outreach activities. Consult with other Director's in HR to ensure Recruitment efforts align with broader HR processes in support of the organization's needs.
- Evaluate the data/metrics associated with the recruitment process to identify trends and challenges and identify solutions.
- Participate in various projects to advance HR priorities and the implementation of special initiatives.
About You
You have strong communication and networking skills in order to attract and build relationships with potential candidates looking to join the Pet Cancer Foundation team. You are organized and have good time management skills to work in a dynamic environment, with a strong orientation towards achieving results. You are a team player who is able to work autonomously and supervise a small team in a virtual environment. You have:
● A degree or certification in Human Resource Management or related field or an acceptable combination of education and experience;
● 5+ years' experience in a similar role, experience recruiting Medical, Executive and Senior Management roles would be an asset
● 5+ years' experience and success in active recruiting (headhunting)
● Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office tools and comfortable working in Google Documents;
● Experience managing a full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing and evaluating candidates to asses their fit for the position and the organization;
● Ability to demonstrate a high-level of tact and professionalism when acting as a representative of the organization;
● Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines on a weekly basis.
