Objective/Purpose
The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for maintaining the production lines by performing both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on production equipment and utility systems. This role oversees maintenance activities on machining and support equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the plant. A key focus of this position is troubleshooting and repairing Makino and Fanuc brand machining equipment, including the replacement and restoration of high-precision components such as spindles, ball screws, and motors.
Principal Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on production machinery and utility systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical malfunctions in equipment
- Conduct specialized maintenance on Makino and Fanuc machining centers, including spindle, motor, and ball screw replacement
- Monitor maintenance schedules, ensuring timely completion of inspections and service activities
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance actions, repairs, and parts usage
- Support installation, relocation, and calibration of production equipment
- Oversee maintenance of supporting systems, such as compressors, pumps, and coolant units
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) standards
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Provide guidance or technical direction to maintenance staff as needed
Abilities and Qualifications
Required
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair spindles, ball screws, and motors on machining equipment
- 5+ years of industrial or mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience working with Makino and/or Fanuc brand equipment
- Solid understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read mechanical diagrams and equipment manuals
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing hands-on maintenance work
Preferred
- Prior experience as a maintenance team lead, foreman, or senior technician
- Experience in CNC or die-casting equipment maintenance
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems or CMMS tools
- Welding, fabrication, or electrical control knowledge
