Essential Duties 

  • Perform intake evaluations/assessments, formulate client diagnoses, and provide individual, couple, and group therapy services. 
  • Provide crisis intervention and appropriate referrals as needed. 
  • Provide case management services to clients in order to plan, coordinate, cooperate or deliver ancillary services necessary for the effective treatment of clients.
  • Develop and maintain satisfactory work habits with respect to timeliness, judgment, cooperation, communication, responsibility and computer literacy.
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic alliance with clients, including conceptualizing and fostering effective therapeutic process. 
  • Maintain clinical records, record daily service, and develop and update treatment plans as indicated by agency policies and procedures. 
  • Attend weekly staff meeting, providing updates and guidance to frontline staff on how to work with youth experiencing mental illness. 
  • Attend work on a regular and predictable basis. 

Secondary Duties

  • Maintain good professional relationships with appropriate community figures, referral sources, and other professionals.
  • Maintain and enhance professional skills and knowledge through attending conferences/ workshops/courses and reading professional materials that are relevant to job requirements and approved by the Program Manager. Maintain any and all continuing education requirements in order to maintain the therapist's professional level and status.
  • Participate in clinical staff supervision and case consultation/staffings. 
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and adherence to Utah laws regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements. 
  • Conduct professional life in accordance with the standards of his/her discipline and the clinical policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain familiarity with issues and trends in the substance use disorder treatment field including comorbid mental health issues, advances in psychopharmacology, theory and evidence-based practices.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health discipline and Utah licensure as a mental health therapist (or eligibility for Utah licensure within 2 years of date of hire).
  • Possess an active/current licensure status and remain in good standing with the Department of Professional Licensing.
  • Open and willing to learn; teachable.
  • Demonstrates an ability to use sound judgment within the scope of the position's responsibilities. 
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adapt to change.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention.
  • Work is performed in an office environment; must sit for extended periods of time.
  • Driving is required: Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver's license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
