We are hiring a Plant Operations Manager

The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food plant. This role ensures that production processes are efficient, cost effective, and meet the highest quality standards. The Plant Operations Manager will lead a team of production staff, manage production schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

1. Production Planning, Scheduling, and Execution:

a. Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize plant efficiency.

b. Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.

c. Track and report on yield and labor by item and production line. Review variances to standard and work with Finance to adjust as needed.

d. Work with Finance to report on service levels and KPI related to production fill rates, hours worked versus targets, pounds per man hour, and headcount.

e. Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule inspections and repairs.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

a. Supervise and mentor production staff, including line workers, supervisors, and other operations personnel.

b. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.

3. Quality Assurance, Safety, and Compliance:

a. Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

b. Work with QA to maintain and enforce quality control procedures and documentation.

c. Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.

d. Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including HACCP and SQF.

4. Inventory Management and Order Fulfillment:

a. Oversee raw material inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely supply.

b. Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure proper product storage, shipping practices, and order fill rates.

c. Communicate with sales to review production issues, order shorts, and new item creation specifications.

5. Cost Management and Cross Functional Strategic Initiatives:

a. Manage production budgets, controlling costs without compromising quality.

b. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and work with the Plant Manager to look for new ways to improve production process.

c. Identify new equipment opportunities and assist plant management with plant location, process, implementation, and tracking of equipment use after equipment installation.

d. Record and analyze downtime in production and act as liaison with other departments to address root cause for downtime.

Qualifications:

· BA in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field or equivalent experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the food industry.

· Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality control standards.

· Proven leadership and team management skills.

· Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

· Proficiency in production management software and MS Office Suite.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies a plus.

· Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or related areas a plus.

· Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus.

· Candidate must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug and background screen.

Working Conditions:

· This role requires working in a production environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.

· Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
