Staff Accountant Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Controller, manages the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for the Practice. Ensures that all bills are correctly and promptly approved, processed & paid; income is properly recorded and reported; requisite entities are invoiced in a timely manner; and records are accurately maintained. Provides administrative support to the Controller. Works on special projects as assigned.

This is an on-site position in Mount Vernon, WA.

Specific Responsibilities:

Accounting Duties

  • Handles day-to-day accounting functions including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable and credit card management
  • Accounts Payable (A/P):
    • Manages & maintains A/P system, disputes discrepancies, audits & codes vendor invoices and payment requests
    • Prepares & executes weekly check runs
    • Audits, balances and distributes credit card receipts to each entity
    • Researches & responds to vendor questions
    • Processes employee & physician expense reimbursements to submit to payroll for payment
  • Records Retention:
    • Maintains internal control system for payables, reports, and invoicing
  • Reporting of unclaimed property
  • 1099 tax forms for independent contractors
  • Performs administrative tasks as needed
  • Special projects as assigned
Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates Degree from a 2-year college with an emphasis in Accounting preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting experience including both A/P and A/R
  • 1+ year Medical Billing experience-preferred for understanding of processes for month-end closing and analyzing reports from billing system

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of accounting practices & procedures
  • Proficiency in NetSuite is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Proficiency in MedInformatic, or other medical billing systems is a plus
  • Ability to work with and learn new software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with the employees and management personnel of other departments
