The Underground Drop Manager is responsible for leading all underground cable drop operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of projects across assigned markets. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership to supervisors, field technicians, and contractors—driving excellence in production, safety, and customer satisfaction while aligning operations with CUI's mission to Empower Next-Gen Data Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Underground Drop Supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and drive individual and team growth through ongoing feedback and training.
  • Oversee all phases of underground drop operations—including installation, maintenance, and repair of buried cable infrastructure.
  • Analyze key performance metrics (productivity, completion rates, quality control, safety performance) to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Optimize resource allocation across personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production goals and budget targets.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring all work meets client specifications and company standards.
  • Champion CUI's safety culture by enforcing OSHA regulations, company protocols, and state/federal compliance requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and safety audits to ensure adherence to best practices and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-impact customer issues, ensuring prompt and professional resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and client representatives to maintain strong relationships and deliver outstanding service quality.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets for underground operations, identifying cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in underground cable operations, including 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Deep understanding of underground cabling practices, utility construction standards, and equipment operations.
  • Proven experience managing large field teams and subcontractors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a data-driven, solution-oriented mindset.
