Job Summary

Neighborhood Feed is seeking a passionate and dedicated Store Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Store Associate, you will assist customers with their pet needs, maintain store operations, and contribute to a welcoming and knowledgeable environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide knowledgeable advice on pet foods, health products, toys, and supplies to meet each pet's unique needs.
  • Build lasting relationships with customers by understanding their pets and preferences.

Sales and Product Knowledge

  • Stay informed about the latest products and trends in pet care.
  • Recommend products and solutions that best fit the needs of pets and their owners.
  • Promote current sales, promotions, and in-store events.

Store Operations

  • Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
  • Maintain store cleanliness and organization, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and creating displays.
  • Participate in inventory counts and help manage stock levels.

Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Community Engagement

  • Assist with in-store events and community outreach programs.
  • Uphold Neighborhood Feed's mission and values in all interactions.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pet care, livestock, or equine products is a plus.
  • Experience with forklift or pallet jack is a plus.
  • Experience with propane filling systems is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Passion for animals and commitment to their well-being.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong customer service and sales abilities.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain product knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including inside the store and outdoors.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours.
