Location: This is an on-site position located at the Hillsborough County Juvenile Assessment Center in Tampa, FL.

What You'll be Doing?

  • Completes admission and orientation documentation.
  • Interprets client handbook for clients as needed; apply applicable rules and regulations to clients.
  • Greets law enforcement personnel and completes required documentation.
  • Searches clients' property for contraband; Inventories and secures client's property.
  • Advises and guides clients on personal hygiene habits.
  • Screens incoming calls and monitors doors and cameras.
  • Assists Detention Screeners and Diversion Specialists with phone contacts to parents, law enforcement, and victims.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, co-workers/shift supervisors and others as appropriate.
  • Observes clients for changes in behavior, monitors activities of clients, motivates clients to participate in activities, makes frequent rounds of facility to ensure adequate safeguards are maintained, and maintains client safety.
  • Administers Juvenile Assessment Center Intervention Assessments.
  • Completes individual Juvenile Assessment Center Daily Log at the end of each shift.
  • Processes Juvenile Assessment Center non-arrest cases as assigned.
  • Participates in DJJ Bureau of Quality Assurance Program as assigned.
  • Participates in the preparation and documentation for reports as assigned.
  • Document individual contacts, client progress, daily case notes, incident, injury reports and grievances.
  • Attend quarterly unit staff meetings.
  • Assists with delegated administrative duties.
  • Completes Intervention Assessments and bills appropriate payor (non-Medicaid).
  • Other duties as assigned.

What is Required?

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Physically able to participate in DJJ-approved crisis intervention curriculum and CPR/First Aid training and able to apply same to work setting.
  • Ability to pass Federal, State, Local Law and Level 2 background clearances.
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Direct client contact in a secure setting should also be expected.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Valid Florida Driver License.
  • Minimal travel to the courthouse, detention facility, or Department of Juvenile Justice office should be expected. Overnight travel is not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups in support of the agency mission and goals.
  • Ability to handle protected health information in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to use technology for scheduling, client records, and service billing.
