General Superintendent, Mission Critical, Travelling

Overview:
Responsible for providing overall direction on projects and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with Client Project Teams throughout the project lifecycle. Visits the project sites frequently to evaluate safety, client needs, employee performance, site conditions, compliance with Liberty's "Setting New Standards" approach, quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of tradespeople. Completes constructability reviews, logistics plans and project schedules to achieve all project execution and turnover requirements.
Responsibilities:
Field Operations:
- Fields calls from client project teams to discuss upcoming work.
- Visits projects to review new scopes of work.
- Creates schedules, staffing plans, tool lists, material lists, and rental lists.
- Works with Project Manager to set up the job/scope in appropriate systems.
- Works with Director of Field Operations to staff the job properly.
- Works with Warehouse team and outside vendors to make sure all tools, materials, and rentals are ordered and received in time to complete the scope of work.
- Oversees the execution of all scopes of work, either directly or through communication with the Project Foreman.
- Reviews all finished work to make sure it is completed and up to quality standards.
- Reviews completed scopes with the Director of Field Operations and Project Manager to ensure all costs are captured and work is billed promptly.
- Assists with the payroll process and pushes for time sheet approvals as needed.
- Works actively recruit and hire qualified employees to fill the staffing needs of a growing business.
- Communicates issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Managers, Director of Field Operations, and Regional Manager.
- Reports any problems promptly to the Project Manager and Director of Field Operations to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions.
- Establishes effective working relationships with clients and Liberty team members.
- Understands the required skill set of all Liberty Field employees so that all requests for manpower are filled with the most qualified employee for the position.
Project Start-Up/Mobilization:
- Identifies pre-mobilization activities in conjunction with the Client Project Team.
- Reviews start-up schedule with Director of Field Operations and Project Manager and issues to the team for review.
- Works with Client Project Team and Liberty Director of Field Operations to hire or assign a qualified Foreman and Journeyman based on overall scope and project needs.
- Works with Client Project Team, Liberty Project Manager, and Director of Field Operations to create a staffing plan and budget for forecasting and business planning.
Scheduling:
- Assists in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field as required.
- Understands the Project Baseline Schedules for all active and future projects.
- Maintains the schedule and ensures that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations.
- Updates Project Manpower Forecast Schedule weekly.
- Provides progress reports to the Project Manager, Director of Field Operations, and Regional Manager.
Safety:
- Ensures that all employees participate in safety pre-construction meetings prior to starting work on the project.
- Ensures that all projects have a full set of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on the project, as well as their site-specific safety plan and current insurance certificate or OCIP/CCIP enrollment ID.
- Reviews the project conditions daily to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with all OSHA and governing requirements and the project site specific safety plan.
- Assists the Project teams in completing and reviewing daily JHA paperwork.
- Supports and promotes all of Liberty's safety initiatives, including IIF, Take 5, JHAs, Toolbox Talks.
- Ensures that all jobs are set-up with the right tools and safety equipment for the task at hand.
- Coordinates all work with the Liberty Safety Manager and client Safety Manager to ensure all work is being done as safely as possible.
Quality Management:
- Ensures that all work is completed in a clean, neat, professional manner.
- Ensures that the appearance of all Liberty field employees is consistent with the Liberty Brand and dress-code policy.
- Ensures that all work is completed in-accordance with the contract documents and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensures that only experienced, qualified, trained employees are sent to perform any tasks requested by the client project team.
- Schedules any training necessary to improve the quality of the workforce.
- Ensures that all completed work is approved, documented and communicated to the project team.
Employee and Site Management across all Projects:
- Manages site pre-construction including pre-construction survey, job site utilization and staging plans.
- Mobilize the field office, if necessary, and hold the field team to Liberty standards.
- Organizes documentation of the job site for easy access and review.
- Manages performance to quality and ethical standards.
- Works with Project Manager and Director of Field Operations to identify and resolve personnel issues and construction process revisions.
- Manages all phases of the construction process including documenting and reporting site activities and progress, and assists with Job Site Utilization Plan.
Meeting Management:
- Attends client project turnover, mobilization and project coordination meetings.
- Attends/chairs safety pre-construction meetings.
- Attends/chairs weekly field operations and safety meetings.
- Attends/chairs monthly schedule/forecast review meetings.
- Attends necessary closeout meetings.
- Attends necessary owner meetings.
- Attends/chairs subcontractor meetings and any others necessary to monitor and manage the project.
Administrative Management:
- Completes and implements construction office checklists including emergency phone lists.
- Reviews daily reports and logs of key activities, files and shop drawings.
- Maintains required safety reporting and all other required files to Liberty standards.
- Ensures that as-built working drawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log and revision log, when required.
Project Closeout:
- Manages subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, work list and punch list.
Training:
- Recognizes the importance of participating in training programs by contributing both in class and as a SME (Subject Matter Expert).
Team Leadership:
- Strives to create synergy and a teamwork atmosphere on all projects.
- Leads by example by establishing the work ethic guidelines for the entire team, including establishing boundaries and expectations.
- Organizes periodic team events and training sessions to advance the Liberty and Suffolk strategy of "Train & Develop Our People".
- Takes action immediately when personal conflicts emerge among the team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business administration or related field and experience relative to project size/scope.
- 8 to 12 years of experience in related construction fields.
- Applicable area licenses.

Working Conditions:
General construction office working conditions with exposure and time on the physical job site and/or in the construction trailer. Some exposure to noise, heat and/or cold, and various weather conditions. Job site walking.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level and spend additional time on the physical job site or construction trailer. Job site walking.
