Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States CEIS | Government Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

CEIS | Government is hiring a Senior Technologist to join Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), supporting a classified weapons program. This is a high-impact role designed to assist senior engineering staff with essential technical execution, coordination, and integration across components tied to component assemblies and surveillance systems. The selected individual will collaborate closely with PhD-level engineers and systems owners that support the design and development of components for various defense applications.

This position requires a detail-oriented, mission-focused team member who thrives in dynamic environments. Responsibilities include managing technical tasks related to component integration, manufacturing coordination, procurement support, and configuration tracking for complex weapons surveillance systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct technical support for surveillance-related components and assemblies
  • Serve as the go-to support for executing detailed tasks across the full lifecycle—from procurement tracking to document preparation and technical interface management
  • Coordinate drawing reviews, data package validation, and requirement verification in support of system surveillance and evaluation
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams, contributing to program milestones and product readiness
  • Track issue resolution, document changes, and maintain records for traceability, audit readiness, and reporting
  • Interface with subcontractors, component engineers, and test teams to ensure timely and technically sound execution of surveillance activities
  • Assist in managing classified records, controlled documents, and secure workflows in compliance with DOE/NNSA protocols
  • Work with test labs, design engineering, and failure analysis groups to identify potential issues
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effectiveness (FMEA) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) analysis of new designs
  • Conduct life cycle, thermal stress, and noise testing
  • Recommend alternative tracking of Electronic, Electrical, and Mechanical (EEE) components
  • Digital and/or analog design experience
  • Hardware engineering and development experience
  • Hands-on experience through full scale component production

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering, physics, applied technology, etc.)
  • 10+ years of technical experience supporting engineering or weapons-related programs
  • Strong background coordinating component-level tasks, engineering documentation, and procurement processes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work closely with PhD scientists and engineering leads
  • Demonstrated familiarity with technical data packages, drawings, and configuration control processes
  • Familiarity with classified work environments and DOE/NNSA programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting surveillance/test functions at a national lab
  • Experience with component assemblies, and/or surveillance components in a weapons program environment
  • Knowledge of SNL systems, weapons lifecycle processes, or national security mission areas
  • Active DOE Q Clearance
  • Skilled in navigating tasks that support high-level engineering outcomes while owning the hands-on execution work
