JBAndrews
is proud to partner with a leading custom automation solutions provider operating across industries including Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Renewable Energy, Mobility, and Precision Manufacturing.

About the Role

As the Director of Technology, you will serve as the senior technical authority and problem solver across major automation programs. Acting as a "Chief Engineer," you'll define technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner closely with customers to design and implement cutting-edge solutions. This position is
not
a direct people management or project management role - it's a hands-on, high-impact technical leadership position focused on decision-making, design guidance, and mentoring. You'll work alongside project leads to define system architecture, review designs, and ensure engineering excellence across all mechanical and controls disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead technical authority for complex, custom automation systems.
  • Define automation strategy and engineering standards across mechanical and controls design.
  • Partner directly with customers to understand requirements, solve complex challenges, and ensure solution success.
  • Guide design reviews, technical concepts, and system-level problem solving throughout project lifecycles.
  • Mentor engineers and project leads, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Approve design concepts, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive process improvement and standardization to enhance efficiency and design scalability.
  • Support automation roadmaps in collaboration with sales, business development, and key customers.
  • Align technical efforts with long-term business strategy and innovation objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 20+ years of experience in automation design, system integration, or robotics within Medical Devices, Automotive, Space, or Advanced Manufacturing industries.
  • Proven expertise in solving complex automation problems and guiding multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deep technical understanding of robotics, mechanical systems, and controls integration.
  • Demonstrated success implementing automation strategies and standardizing engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills; ability to articulate solutions clearly.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards (IEC, ISO, NFPA, NEC, UL).
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Due to the large number of applications, if you have not heard anything within 14 days, then unfortunately, you have been unsuccessful.
