Overview

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for ensuring that incoming payments are accurately recorded, allocated, and reconciled. This position reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, research, and post daily client payments received via wire/ACH, firm lockbox, check, and credit card
  • Communicate with attorneys and legal support staff to ensure accurate application of payments
  • Respond to internal/client inquiries for client historical payment information
  • Routinely research unapplied cash and work closely with collections and billing staff ensuring correct application or return of client payments
  • Process accounts receivable write-off requests from billing attorneys
  • Assist with the daily cash balance report for distribution to management
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper records of receipts and remittance advices
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Controller or other leadership
  • Back-up the other Accounts Receivable Specialist

Essential Job Specifications/Qualifications

  • Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with both internal and external clients on all levels
  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback/follow-up as appropriate
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to use ten-key calculator
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled

Education/Experience/Certifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of related work experience
  • BS degree in Accounting preferred, not required
  • ARCS (or similar collections software) reporting experience a plus
  • Law firm experience a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62, $75,000.00 per year
