Summary

As a Direct Support Professional at General Human Outreach Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities, fostering their independence, and enhancing their quality of life. This position is essential in helping our clients thrive within their communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in daily living activities.
  • Assist clients in developing skills that promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
  • Monitor and document client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
  • Administer first aid and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Facilitate social interactions and community integration activities.
  • Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all clients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • NYS valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Covid-19 Vaccine card
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Previous experience in working with the ID/ DD population or mentally ill population is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including mandatory overtime as needed.
