Job Summary: The Medical Scribe provides documentation support for a designated provider, ensuring accurate and efficient recording of patient encounters. This role plays a key part in improving provider efficiency, enhancing patient care, and maintaining complete and compliant medical records. The scribe will work closely with one assigned provider as part of a collaborative care team in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What you'll do

  • Accurately and efficiently document patient visits and clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR) during exams and procedures.
  • Capture patient histories, physical exam findings, diagnostic test results, treatment plans, and provider instructions.
  • Enter orders, referrals, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider (in compliance with clinic protocols).
  • Ensure documentation meets legal, regulatory, and clinic standards.
  • Assist the provider with navigating the EHR, locating patient information, and retrieving test results.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding lab or imaging results as directed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Support clinic flow by anticipating provider needs and communicating effectively with other team members.
  • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.

Basic qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in health sciences preferred.
  • Previous experience as a medical scribe or medical assistant strongly preferred.
  • Ability to type 40 WPM
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems; prior experience with Epic, Athenahealth, or similar platforms a plus.
  • Strong typing and data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced clinical environment with professionalism and discretion.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and basic anatomy/physiology.

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting or emergency room environment is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Experience with transcription processes to enhance the quality of written records.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
