Job Summary
In Cat Digital, we serve our customers and dealers by building industry-leading digital solutions. We are building a new team to deliver best-in-class customer-facing experiences that match customers to our industry-leading range of machines, engines, power systems and other primary products. We are looking for an experienced, strategic product leader to lead a team of digital product specialists responsible for bringing these experiences to life for our customers.

The ideal candidate has experience leading product teams responsible for planning and delivering experiences such as conversion-focused enterprise websites, apps and/or eCommerce solutions for industries such as manufacturing, automotive, retail or other B2B enterprises.

What You Will Do

  • Leads a team of 6-8 experienced team members across roles such as Product Managers, Product Owners and Business Analysts
  • Leads discovery, strategy and solution design activities for new customer-facing tools tied to product selection
  • Accountable for delivery of multiple new product selection tools within defined timelines and budgets
  • Manages prioritization of epics, features and enhancements for both existing and future state, with initial priority on new product builds
  • Partners upstream with Caterpillar's business units to understand marketing strategy, commercial plans and product priorities
  • Partners downstream with Application Engineering, Platform and AI teams to develop and deploy new features and new releases on schedule
  • Drives a culture of teamwork, inclusion & connection, and focuses on ensuring the team prioritizes meaningful, impactful work

Digital Product Business Knowledge:
Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a digital product; ability to manage current uses, future plans, and product vision.

  • Drives functional enhancements and anticipates new opportunities and needs
  • Ideates about future-state enhancements based on industry trends
  • Ensures feedback from current and potential users, analysts and users of competitive products
  • Manages conflicts between business units, sales, marketing, and engineering teams
  • Plays a key role in analyzing and dealing with unusual and complex customization needs
  • Defines and communicates product strategy, vision and functional roadmap
  • Has experience with multiple products or multiple releases of a critical product

Marketing Strategy and Positioning:
Knowledge of market research, segmentation, and channels; understands marketing strategies, objectives, and tactics

  • Works with both enterprise and business unit marketing teams to understand marketing strategy and priorities
  • Drives lead generation and conversions tied to business outcomes and customer demands
  • Understands goals and KPIs for business unit marketing campaigns and makes recommendations based on site analytics and insights
  • Coaches on the development strategy for specific markets and specific products.

Considerations For Top Candidates

  • Experience leading teams responsible for product management, digital marketing and/or software engineering tied to websites or mobile apps.
  • Responsible for execution in a product management and/or marketing organization
  • Mid-level experience working within a complex, matrixed organization and across roles by leading and influencing without formal authority
  • Proven experience delivering and/or managing delivery of new or significantly enhanced product experiences within aggressive timelines
  • Proven experience coaching and developing employees, ensuring they are being cared for both personally and professionally
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships with peer leaders, network internally and influence senior / executive level leadership
  • Financial acumen and budget management experience
  • 4-year college degree, or a minimum of 15 years of digital product experience as an equivalent
  • Experience managing UX and design for customer-facing digital experiences
  • Deep expertise working across the Caterpillar matrix and dealer network
  • Understanding of Caterpillar's digital product management processes
  • Technical acumen and understanding of principles of the selection process customers use when evaluating the purchase of a machine and/or power system.

  • Regular travel of up to 25% of working time may be required as part of the role

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
