WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Position Summary

The Shop Manager is the daily leader of the shop—responsible for technician performance, shop flow, customer experience, and maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment. This role ensures that cars move through the shop efficiently, technicians are productive, and the shop consistently meets operational, financial, and cultural standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Team Leader - You are the daily coach, support, and structure for your team.

• Run morning huddles and set daily goals and expectations
• Maintain morale and communication
• Participate in hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees
• Provide ongoing training, evaluations, feedback, and development opportunities for staff
• Collaborate across shops and departments to cover needs

Shop Flow Coordinator - You keep cars moving and prevent bottlenecks

• Monitor cycle time and workload
• Review appointments, technician assignments, and daily workflow
• Coordinate and collaborate with Virtual Service Advisors
• Oversee vehicle inspections, repairs and technician notes
• Address misdiagnoses and comebacks
• Schedule staff and secure coverage for employee absences
• Conduct quality checks on repair orders

Shop Maintenance - You protect the work environment

• Maintain a clean and organized shop
• Ensure tools and equipment are functioning
• Enforce safety standards and compliance with laws and regulations
• Maintain vendor communication for tools, parts, and equipment needs
• Verify all parts are accurately ordered, stocked, accounted for, and returned

Customer Experience Leader - You create confidence the moment a customer walks in

• Warm, accurate check-ins
• Clear intake and expectation setting
• Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints
• Smooth vehicle drop-off and pick-up
• Bridge the communication gap between customer and VSA
• Collaborate with membership and concierge department
• Present estimates and clarify repair recommendations to customers when needed

Problem Solver & Standards Enforcer You prevent small problems from becoming big ones

• Address small issues early
• Enforce processes and values
• Keep the team aligned and accountable
• Act as liaison between your shop and corporate office

Financial Management - You take ownership of shop goals

• Monitor and track performance metrics and sales statistics
• Drive efforts to meet or exceed shop financial goals
• Expense control
• Manage payroll and labor dollars
• Collaborate with accounting department on invoices, credits, payments etc

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3+ years as an automotive Shop/Service Manager
• Strong understanding of technician workflow and shop operations
• High comfort with technology and shop management systems (Tekmetric a plus)
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience as an estimator or service advisor in auto repair
• Strong understanding of labor times, parts sourcing, and repair order structure
• Fast, confident decision-making and organized workflow mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive attitude + team-first mindset

Physical Demands & Environment

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs , Frequent standing, walking, and speaking, Exposure to moderate to high shop noise
