Occupational Therapist

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide occupational therapy to clients with neuro-musculoskeletal disabilities in accordance with existing standards of practice and ethical principles of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
• Develop and implement treatment plan for clients with neuro-musculoskeletal disabilities.
• Executes appropriate and careful use of all occupational therapy equipment.
• Participates in the teaching and training programs with the medical services department.
• Reports any problems in the operation of medical equipment to the occupational therapy coordinator.
• Requests all necessary supplies from the Physical therapy coordinator.
• Demonstrate good clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work the clients, families and team members.
• Current skills and knowledge for practice guidelines in conducting treatment sessions in virtual platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Evaluate clients with deficits in in motor, sensory, perceptual, cognitive, and
psychosocial skills.
• Perform comprehensive evaluations using standardized testing tools, objective
clinical measures, and clinical observation.
• Determine problem list, formulate goals and treatment plan for clients.
• Document evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, daily notes and discharge
summaries accurately and in a timely manner.
• Clinical observation and skills to assess the need and/or fabricate orthotics for the
trunk and upper extremity of the pediatric patient.
• Maintain well-being and safety of the clients during occupational therapy
intervention process.
• Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team to communicate information,
resolve issues and provide services in compliance with established guidelines.
• Provide education related to Occupational Therapy for clients, families and staff.
• Develop appropriate home program for clients and families to ensure carry over and
achieve goals.
• Provide supervision and co-sign documentation for staff Occupational Therapy
Assistant.
• Provide clinical supervision to occupational therapy students completing clinical
hours at Children's Rehabilitation Institute Teleton USA.
• Demonstrate effective time management skills.
• Abide by the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics.
• Observe patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as delegated, required or requested.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
A. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
1. Occupational therapy minimum of 1 year of clinical experience (in pediatric setting preferred).
2. Successful completion of fieldwork experience or job experience in related area.
3. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
4. Knowledge of information and techniques needed to rehabilitate physical and mental ailments and to provide career guidance including alternative treatments, rehabilitation equipment and its proper use, and methods to evaluate treatment effects.

C. QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
1. Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy. Minimum of a Master's degree required
2. Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
3. Licensed by the Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners in the state of Texas (ECPTOTE)
4. Current Basic Life Support/ CPR Certification for Health Care Providers
