The job duties for the position of Pediatric Certified Occupational Therapist are listed below.

Job Summary:

A registered professional who provides occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups. Plans, implements, and evaluates patient/client care plans to restore or maintain patient/client wellbeing. Evaluates occupational roles and occupational performance of patients/clients with physical, psycho-social and/or cognitive impairments. Provides interventions for deficits and elicits responses. Participates in the coordination of care.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapist assistant with an associate level degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Licensure: Active state license as an occupational therapist assistant. Current driver's license.
  • Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in a patients'/clients' homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
  • Physical and Mental Effort: Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs and to meet patient/client and family individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Essential Functions:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapist assistant.
  • Provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
  • Facilitates patients'/clients' ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients'/clients' ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
  • Participates in the coordination of care.
  • Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the OT.
  • Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient/client care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
  • Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients/clients.
  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient/client and caregiver education.
  • Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in the Agency sponsored in-service trainings.
  • Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
  • Proof of current CPR certification.
