Senior Business Planning Analyst – Capital

The
Financial Analyst – Capital
is responsible for supporting expense and capital spending, assisting with monthly financial close activities, and providing financial reporting and analysis. This role partners with management to drive improved financial performance, supports the accounts payable and capital funding process, and works across multiple financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the accounts payable and capital spending processes, including creating and monitoring Appropriation Requests (ARs) throughout all stages of capital funding.
  • Partner with business departments to address capital project spend inquiries and training needs.
  • Utilize financial systems such as SAP, Ariba, and related internal tools to process capital projects.
  • Support the monthly accrual, expense/capital reclass, and financial close processes.
  • Prepare financial reports and perform basic financial analyses.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining ROI models for capital projects.
  • Support capital forecasting and the annual budget process.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Respond to internal and external customer or vendor inquiries promptly and professionally, meeting established SLA requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline payment and reporting processes; escalate issues as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks and maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and Ariba.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience

  • 3+ years
    of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • 2–3 years
    of ERP experience (SAP strongly preferred).
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase is a plus.
